John Elway

John Elway was a star quarterback and pitcher in college at Stanford University. John Elway was drafted number one overall in the 1983 NFL draft by the Baltimore Colts before being traded to the Denver Broncos when he said he would never play for them. He played his entire career with the Denver Broncos and retired in 1999 after winning two Super Bowls in a row. When John Elway retired he was statistically the second rated passer of all time and he had the most victories by a starting quarterback ever in the NFL. He took Denver to six AFC Championship games and five Super Bowls, losing the first three times, before going out on top with victories over the Green Bay Packers and the Atlanta Falcons. Five Super Bowl starts by one quarterback is still a record today. John Elway was inducted into the pro football hall of fame in 2004, his first year of eligibility. Many people consider him to be the greatest football player ever. He has to be rated in the top ten best players of all time. In 2011, John Elway was named executive vice president of football operations for the Denver Broncos.
